Frequently Asked Questions

Where will the wedding events take place?

The ceremony and reception are at Frankford Hall, a German-style beer garden and restaurant in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia. The welcome drinks on Friday evening will be at a gallery space in Center City, the downtown area of Philadelphia, and Sunday’s post-wedding brunch will be at a pavilion and picnic area in Franklin Square, close to Independence Hall and the National Constitution Center.

Which airport should we fly into?

Philadelphia International Airport is the closest and most convenient option. It’s about 30 minutes from Center City by either taxi or SEPTA regional rail. (If you’re staying at the Loews Hotel you can take SEPTA’s airport line to Jefferson Station, which is a 3-minute walk from the hotel.)

Another option would be to fly into Newark International Airport in the New York City area — for our Berlin friends, there are daily nonstops from BER to EWR. It’s a bit more of a trek to Philadelphia from EWR: Amtrak trains from the Newark Airport station to Philadelphia’s 30th Street Station take a little more than an hour. (New York’s JFK airport is also an option if you’re also planning to tack on a New York visit, but it’s much less convenient than Newark in terms of transit options to get to Philadelphia.)

What’s the best way to get from the hotel to the event venues?

If you’re staying at the Loews Hotel in Center City, both the Friday welcome drinks and the Sunday post-wedding brunch are around a 15-minute walk or a short taxi or Uber ride. The ceremony and reception on Saturday are an approximately 10- to 15-minute taxi or Uber ride away.

Public transit enthusiasts can also take SEPTA’s Market-Frankford Line (blue line) from the 13th Street Station to the Front-Girard Station in 15 minutes (although we wouldn’t recommend doing that late at night).

For those driving to the ceremony, there is a paid parking lot a few blocks from Frankford Hall, on N. Front St. between Master St. and W. Thompson St.

What’s the dress code for the ceremony and reception?

Comfortable cocktail attire — we’d recommend avoiding high heels, since the ceremony is in a beer garden with gravel (and we hope you’ll be hitting the dance floor!). Both the bride and the groom will be wearing Converse sneakers, and other wedding guests are highly encouraged to sport their own festive Chucks if they’d like.

What time should we arrive for the ceremony?

The doors at Frankford Hall will open at 5 p.m. and the ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. Please plan to arrive and find your seat before 5:30 p.m.

Is there an afterparty?

We don’t have a formal afterparty planned, but Frankford Hall will reopen to the public when the reception ends at 11 p.m. They’re typically open until around 2 a.m. for anyone who’d like to keep the party going (and other bars in the area if you’d like to branch out!).

Can I bring a guest or plus-one?

Due to space constraints at our venue, we’re unfortunately only able to accommodate those guests whose names are listed on the invitation.
